Location, location. Do you shave in the shower, or do you prefer to shave over the bathroom sink? Will your shaving mirror replace your main bathroom mirror or compliment it? Answering these questions will go a long way towards determining how big or small your mirror should be.

Flat Wall-Mounted Mirrors
By far the commonest type of mirror, you’ll find these flat, reflectively-backed pieces of glass mounted on walls, typically above a countertop, sink or bathroom vanity. Flat mirrors are unobtrusive, and appealing in their simplicity. Their uncomplicated appearance and low-profile design allow them to blend in with the décor of almost any bathroom. Their shape, and the solidity of the wall to which such mirrors are affixed, make them very easy to clean.
The plainest flat mirrors feature unframed edges, and are easy to care for. The
A magnifying mirror reflects back a magnified image, making it perfect for the farsighted – or perfectionistic – shaver. A larger reflection makes it easy to ensure that every that hair is removed, to allow for problematic areas to be worked around, and to deal with stubborn growth patterns which require that you shave in several directions.
Most magnifying mirrors are small and circular in shape – though some square and rectangular options do exist. The small size of a magnifying mirror means you’ll have to get quite close to the reflective surface to shave. Many such mirrors feature a swivelling arm that allows for optimal positioning – such as the excellent Songmics 7x Magnification Mirror, which is kept in place by sturdy mounting hardware.
Mains pressure unvented
Unvented water systems have a hot water cylinder which is directly fed from the mains supply, without the need of a cold water tank. The water is heated by a boiler or immersion heater and has a strong pressure as it is coming directly from the main supply.
Cold mains supply
If you don’t have stored hot water or don’t want to use up the hot water when you shower, you can fit an electric shower to the cold mains supply. With an electric shower, the water is heated automatically when it’s switched on which means you don’t use up any hot water stored in a cylinder.
Mixer showers take both hot and cold water and blend them together for the desired showering temperature. They have three different temperature controls. With manual control, your shower temperature may vary depending on changes to the incoming water supply.
Pressure balancing mixers compensate for an imbalance in pressure between the hot and cold water supplies, providing you with a stable showering temperature. This is particularly useful for combination boiler installations which often have imbalances between the hot and cold supplies.
Thermostatic mixer showers are great for families with young children or the elderly as they monitor the incoming water temperature and adjust it to provide a comfortable showering temperature.
Mixer showers are ideal if you have lots of stored water from a combi boiler or large hot water cylinder and generally provide a faster flow than electric showers. If your home has a low pressure system, you can install a pump to increase the flow for a more powerful shower.
Power showers require a supply of both hot and cold water, which is then blended to the optimum temperature. They’re designed for low pressure gravity fed systems and are available in manual and thermostatic versions. Power showers have an inbuilt pump so are able to significantly increase the flow rate from a gravity fed system.
Power showers are a great option if you have low water pressure in your home but they can use a lot more water. This is important to consider if your home has a water meter or a small supply of stored hot water.
This type of shower needs a mains cold water supply only and heats water on demand. An element within the shower heats the cold water as it passes through the unit to the shower head, so it doesn’t use up any stored hot water. There’s no pump involved, so the amount of water will depend on your mains water pressure.
Ideal for families, electric showers are economical to run as you only heat the water you need, and they’re the only type of shower that’s independent of the hot water system, so if your boiler fails you can still have a hot shower.
The higher the kilowatt rating, the more powerful the water flow is – even at higher temperatures. This will usually range from between 7.5kW and 10.8kW. It is recommended to consult a qualified tradesperson when installing an electric shower as the size of the electricity cable feeding the shower will need to be assessed.
Digital showers allow you to set the right temperature and flow of your water from a control panel. If your shower has a wireless remote control, the control panel can be located within a metre radius of the shower which means you can turn the shower on and wait for it to warm up to the desired temperature before getting in. You can also pre-programme the water temperature to suit your personal preferences, giving you complete control.
There are two different types of digital showers: a low pressure variant which has an inbuilt pump as part of the valve and a high pressure variant. Which type of digital shower you choose will be dependent on your water pressure and system.
A processor box is connected to the shower’s controls though a wireless remote control and blends the hot and cold water supply to the required temperature using a digital thermostatic mixing valve. Water is delivered to the shower head through the riser rail, celling or wall, so there’s no pipes on show. The processor box can also be hidden so it isn’t on display within your bathroom.
Thermostatic temperature control
A thermostatic shower provide a constant water temperature, which isn’t affected by the use of other household items. This prevents spikes in temperature which could lead to scalding. Manual temperature control showers do not have this.
From clear and patterned to 3-fold and 4-fold, our range of shower screens offer great protection against water spray.
Boost the water strength and overall performance of your mixer shower with a pump. A pump is used to simultaneously boost hot and cold water supplies so you can enjoy a more powerful shower.

It’s easily adjustable with a bendable mount to let you position it to your desired angle. This mirror can be relied on to stay free from fog due to the fixture at its back that supplies it with a small amount of hot water from your shower. The acrylic mirror is hard-wearing and fully shatterproof. There’s also a holder on the mirror for the razor.

The suction cup system is just as durable and keeps the mirror secure on smooth shower walls.

Received this as a birthday gift after complaining about my old shower mirror. This thing rocks! Let me start with shaving in the shower is the best; great shave, soft beard. Problem has always been having to splash warm water on the mirror to get rid of the fog but then having to deal with the water droplets on my old mirror. I was hesitant about the water reservoir and though it to be a gimmick. It’s not, pure genius! You start by filling it up (with your hot shower water) and sitting it in the top part of the mirror. The fog goes away and stays away. I have not had to refill it a second time. Instructions said you might need to fill it a second time but that’s no big deal, and probably only in the really cold winter months. Either way it worked flawlessly. There is a squeegee on the bottom of the reservoir to get the water droplets off the mirror if you get any. I have a light in my shower already but the led ones on the mirror are nice and white and add just the right amount of light under my chin/neck area. The lights shut off on their own and the water proof switches are on the bottom, one for the side lights and one for the chin light (I would have preferred them on the side). Three heavy duty suction cups hold this in place really well, I have not had any issues. There is a little separate razor holder that comes with it and has its own suction cup. Tip: mount the mirror with your eyes near the top of the mirror so when you shave your throat you get a good view. All I need now is a coffee cup holder and limitless hot water and I am all set. I would absolutely recommend it, best one I have ever used.

I had an older model that lasted for years but it actually used the water coming out of the shower head. It had to be attached to it. This one has a small reservoir that holds the water to defog the mirror but you have to refill it in the middle of shaving. It doesn’t hold enough water. Also the led lights stopped working after a few weeks, they were stuck on and would not shut off, so I had to take the batteries out. Luckily my shower has a light in it already. So it wasn’t a big deal, they were not bright enough to light your face even if it was only a few inches away. That being said, they still should have worked.
How This Shower Mirror Stays Fog-Free
The process of filling and emptying water might sound cumbersome, awkward, and like it would be a chore to do this each time you want to use the mirror. But I asked Jim (who does it daily), and he said it’s no big deal at all.
I was truly surprised. He’s not one to have a lot of patience for multi-step projects. And he typically wants things to work right out of the box — without even having to read the instructions. But he honestly does not mind having to fill the shower base with hot water before each use — because, overall, the mirror works so well for his needs. (And yes, he even remembers to empty that water after each use too!)
I suppose you could also position the mirror such that warm water from the shower head would automatically fill the back of the mirror, but we like having ours up and out of the way instead. Both ways work well though.
How This Fog Free Mirror Stays On The Wall
First of all, the ToiletTree fogless mirror seemed a little small when I took it out of the box. However, Jim and I both think it’s the perfect size. We like that it’s up and out of the way, yet big enough to get the job done. You notice that it’s there, but it’s not obtrusive.
As far as positioning the mirror on your shower wall… of course, you can place it exactly how high or low you want on the wall. But in addition to that, the part of the base that the mirror slides onto can be tilted up or down effortlessly. The best part: it “clicks” into place, so it’s never tilting too high or too low on accident. And that position can be changed on the fly to suit different users.
In case you’re wondering… yes, we’ve bumped the mirror on the wall a couple of times, and that silicone is doing an awesome job of keeping the mirror in place. It hasn’t budged. And doesn’t seem like it ever will.
I no longer worry about the silicone adhesive hurting our shower tiles or being difficlut to remove (like when you’re moving and you want to take the mirror with you). I did a little research online and found lots of recommendations from homeowners who’ve removed silicone glue themselves. (This one summarizes how to remove silicone adhesive best.)

Hydroluxe Ultra-Luxury (Most Versatile & Economical)
Our recommendation for the most versatile shower head is the Hydroluxe Ultra-Luxury. This shower head is a in one package. It offers a wall-mounted shower head and a detachable hose. They can be used individually or together at the same time.
This shower head boasts an incredible 2full and combined water flow patterns. full setting high power shower head and hand shower settings. The hand power settings include: Power Rain, Massage, Water-saving Economy, and Pause. The different settings and water flow patterns will make every shower a perfect shower.
The Hydroluxe Ultra-Luxury wall-mounted shower head is made of an oversize 4-inch chrome face to ensure durability and maximum water coverage. While the detachable shower head comes in feet of super flexible stainless steel hose for maximum reach and puncture resistance.

This shower head is also backed by a limited 10-year warranty to ensure customer satisfaction.
Think of all the different features your missing out on with an old basic shower head. A newer shower head will have multiple spray patterns and many different modes like massage and pulsate to suit your needs.
With this system, you can use the hand held or wall mounted individually or combined for two streams at once. This is a fantastic feature. Being able to target specific areas with the hand-held while maintaining a nice stream of water down your back on the wall mounted shower head.
The drawback to this type of shower head is that it usually comes in a single setting. They also require a wall mount or be directly mounted to the ceiling.
Not every home will have high pressure, this can be due to a number of factors. Having high pressure during shower allows a much deeper relaxation feel and will leave you feeling rejuvenated. Unfortunately, trying to fix the water pressure in your house may be a costly and painstaking idea.
ToiletTree Fogless Shower Mirror
If the 30-day money back guarantee it comes with means anything, it would be that this ToiletTree Fogless is absolutely a fine product. Built out of high quality acrylic that will not shatter by common drops, it promises durability, simplicity, and functionality. The box includes a pair of silicone adhesive that can safely mount it on your shower wall. Despite being very reliable, the silicone adhesive can be easily removed, so you do not have to worry about it giving some damage on your wall. The water tank is built right behind the mirror. Simply pour some hot water in it before you start your shower and by the time you finish, it should be ready for use; clean and clear. The unit comes with a squeegee but I doubt you will ever need it because like I told you, this mirror is so amazing it hardly needs any cleaning.
The Shave Well Company Travel Mirror Fog-Free
The three products we have reviewed so far are meant to be use at home. The Shave Well Company Fog-Free, however, is small enough to fit even a small space in your travel bag. To be specific, the mirror measures about x inch and the suction cup it comes with can be easily removed too. Again, you need to make sure that the wall you’re going to mount it on is real smooth and clean. I might as well suggest you that you wipe it with alcohol first. Otherwise, the suction cup won’t work and you’ll be irritated finding the mirror drop off many times. Good news is the mirror is shatterproof. To use it, you just need to rinse it under your shower water for a few seconds and that’s it. The mirror will accord its temperature to match the water and you’ll see no fog in no time.

Surprisingly, the experts and my own tests pointed towards adhesives being the way to go.
Surprisingly, the experts and my own tests pointed towards adhesives being the way to go.
You might be concerned that adhesives are going to gunk up your wall. Don’t worry about that. The one-time adhesives on models like our pick are easy to remove and reapply with the tube of silicone adhesive. So, if you’re likely to shower and shave almost every day, get adhesive.
The other mirrors we dismissed
In practice, that’s just not as convenient as the stationary but adjustable ToiletTree. The Shave Well actually fogs reliably, which you remedy by running under the showerhead. The routine feels inelegant and wastes time. More importantly, if you use your one hand to hold it, you can’t then stretch out your face to get at all your facial hair. That’s a dealbreaker.
There are countless other cheapo shave mirrors out there, but after hours of searching, the only two that had the critical and user popularity to be worthwhile are the Shave Well and ToiletTree. From further critical data and our own testing, the ToiletTree wins easily.
The rest of them? Here’s why we didn’t bother looking closer.
InterDesign’s Fog Away Suction Mirror has a better reputation than the Powerlock, but our and outside reviewers’ experience with suction cups has proven that they’ll always eventually come crashing down. That’s fine if you’re traveling or don’t mind taking it down after use, but we like the travel ToiletTree’s squeegee and reliable fog-clearing system better than the sound of this one.
The Zadro Z Fogless Free Shower Mirror is cool because it can adjust to 5x magnification, but we’ve never found a time when we’ve needed that feature. If you have a full bathroom like I do, you’re already close to the wall and thus the mounted mirror. It’s not worth the problems that come with its suction cup adhesion.
Zadro’s other models (makers of the Z Fogless line) have spotty reviews for their entire lineup. The Fog-Free LED Shower Mirror (out of stars) and the Fog Free Mirror with Light and Clock (out of stars) have lots of complaints. The most common? Shoddy craftsmanship that breaks quickly. We’d steer clear of their half-dozen or so variants on the shower mirror.
Jerdon’s nine-inch fogless travel mirror uses suction cups, which already disqualifies it for us. We also don’t like how the blank two-inch perimeter cuts the mirror’s actual size down to seven inches. Users also claim that the only worthwhile part about this fog-prone mirror is the suction cup.
OXO has a shower mirror and this brand makes some home products we like, but their mirror uses suction cups and users say its fog-clearing system doesn’t work.
Toilet Tree Products TTP-0Fogless Shower Mirror
Toilet Tree products TTP-0shower mirror is one of the best rated fogless mirrors on the market today. Made of high quality acrylic, the mirror cannot shatter in the case of an accidental knock or fall. If you love your mirror hanging on the wall, the Toilet Tree product features removable silicone adhesives to enable easy installation. However, you can also use the shower as a bathroom mirror by placing it on a countertop. Additionally, the mirror features several helpful accessories rare to find.
Fogless Luxury Fog Free Shower Mirror
If you prefer a fogless mirror that comes pretreated, here is one worth checking out. Fogless Luxury is a 6.inch circular shaped mirror that offers a clear view as you shave. No need to add hot water, the mirror stays fog free irrespective of the amount of steam in your house. The small fogless mirror is also designed for easy rotations. In addition, the Upper West brand product is durable and has a shatter less build.
ReflectXL Fogless Shower Mirror
ReflectXL is a large 7.6X5.inches mirror that offers quality magnification and durability. ReflectXL is also one of the sleekest fogless shower mirrors you will find on the market thanks to its unique design and shiny frames. The mirror is also unique for its Para cord rope to help you hang it where you wish. Unfortunately, the mirror lacks a flexible mirror, meaning it hangs just where you place it. Also, the mirror features adhesive mount that adds the convenience of installation.
7.x 5.x 0.adhesive hook and adjustable rope shatterproof
One of the major concerns people have always had with fogless mirrors is that they are not always fog free. What happens if you don’t add hot water to the reservoir? Does the treatment coating last forever? Pretreated fogless mirrors are especially notorious for failing to keep fog free. Only the best rated among them have a high efficiency rate. In most cases, be prepared to replace your mirror after some while. But for a minimum of two years, many fogless mirrors function efficiently, keeping the fog away and offering a clear view of your body parts.
Before you even look at the price, ensure that you are looking for an easy to install fogless mirror. A quality mirror will often feature an installation hook or adhesive to let you slide it on the tiles. Some will also come with a stand for easy installation on the bathroom countertop. While adhesives may not last for long in a hot shower, a quality hook will help your mirror stay in place effectively.
Just like you would do when buying any other type of mirror, consider the size you will be most comfortable with. Fogless mirrors are typically shaped as squares, rectangles or circles. They measure 5Xinches on average, but the size can get as high as your budget limits you. Fortunately, you don’t have to buy the largest mirror you get. Modern fogless mirrors have rotating arms that can help you view every part of your body with ease. With that in mind, select a medium sized mirror that could offer the flexibility you need.
All the bestselling fogless mirrors have an angled arm. The arm helps you install the mirror at the right angle for you. The best mirrors have an arm that rotates 3600 for an unlimited viewing angle. Not all fogless mirrors have this feature though. When buying your fogless mirror, ensure that you can turn it around and not just hang it at one angle.
While many fogless mirrors come with an option to insert light, one that magnifies the size of your leg hairs and whiskers will help you do a better shaving job. Of course, both magnification and lighting are important, which is why you better pick a mirror with both features. The best fog free mirrors have a magnification power up to five times the size of your whiskers. They are, however, more expensive than normal mirrors. If you are confident with the quality of lighting in your bathroom, you don’t have to look for a mirror with the highest magnification power. But if getting every bit of hair from your legs and other parts is important, choose a mirror with better magnification.
While many modern fogless showers allow you to insert light for clearer views, few of them actually come with lights. You have to pick the right light to help you have the best views of where to shave. Choose LED lighting for the best views and for durability purposes. Select brighter bulbs if you have a dim shower. Also, select bulbs that shine brightly even under heavy moist and steam. You need proper lighting to eliminate shadows and anything else that may hinder you from having a clear view.
A good mirror shower comes with everything you need, including important accessories such as hooks. Hooks help you install the mirror safely. They also help you hook your razor into place. In addition to hooks, check for a shelf where you can place important items as you shower. You will need a place for the tweezers and sponges, and you can’t hook all of them.
Durability is an important factor to keep in mind as you buy your shower mirror. The best mirrors come with a shatter proof build to make them last as long as possible. Select a mirror made from acrylic, and one with quality plastic or metal frames for durability. This will keep the mirror less prone to breakages.

More About Water System Types: What types of water system are there and which one do I have? • Gravity System
As mentioned previously, a gravity system is a low pressure system with a cold water storage tank (usually located in the loft) as well as a hot water cylinder. As the name suggests, the pressure supplied around your household is based upon the height in which the cold storage tank sits from the location of the taps around your house.
Generally speaking, the water pressure supplied to your upstairs bathroom will be around 0.or 0.bar and the pressure supplied to your kitchen will be somewhere around 0.bar. This type of system limits your tap choices significantly and the installation of a water pump should be considered to give you access to a wider range of tap options. • Combi-Boiler
A combination boiler is typically installed in your kitchen at the point in which the pressurised cold mains water enters your property. It manages both your hot and cold water supplies as well as your central heating, giving it the name ‘combination’.
The combi-boiler system heats cold water directly from the mains supply as and when it’s needed when the hot tap is turned on. As the water supply comes from the mains, at mains pressure, your water will be of a high pressure and suitable for a large majority of high pressure taps provided you have a fairly good combi boiler. Pressures can vary from boiler to boiler, but the typical pressure expectation from a combi-boiler is somewhere between and Bar. • Unvented Water System
With an unvented water system (sometimes referred to as a
Megaflo system), a main cylinder will be filled with cold water directly from the mains. Unlike a traditional gravity system, an unvented system does not require additional storage tanks and instead offers a much more simple solution.
The water held in the main cylinder is kept constantly under pressure by incoming mains water and then heated indirectly from an external source such a boiler, solar panel, oil or electricity. These types of system will often be found in newer builds and will provide high pressure, meaning you can choose any brassware you want.
It’s incredibly important that you select the correct pressure taps for the water system you have in place. Installing a tap that requires a high pressure to function in a low pressure system will result in a low flow rate or disappointing functionality.
As an example, installing a high pressure bath filler in a low pressure system would mean that it would take ages for the bath to be filled, and since the water would be constantly cooling you would have to use more hot water to compensate. At Drench, all of our
DETERMINING FAN SIZE AND POWER
Bathroom exhaust fans are measured in cubic feet per minute (CFM), which gives the amount of air moved by the fan each minute. The product’s box will list the CFM number, and it will typically give a suggested room size as well. As a general rule of thumb, homeowners should buy a fan with a minimum CFM rating that equates to your bathroom’s square footage. For example, you’ll want a 50 CFM rated fan for a 50-square-foot bathroom and a 100 CFM rated fan for a 100-square-foot bathroom.
For even more accuracy, measure your bathroom and use the following mathematical formula from Home Depot:
Length X Width X Height X 0.1= Suggested CFM
Suppose your bathroom is feet wide, feet long, and feet high. Then you’d multiply by by by 0.1for a total of 83.In this case, a fan with a CFM rating of 80 would probably be sufficient for your bathroom.
THE NOISE FACTOR
In addition to CFM measurement, consumers should consider a fan’s noise level. The noise emitted by an exhaust fan is rated in “sones,” and most fans have a sones rating between the range of 0.to 6.0. The lower the sones number (which is typically printed on the fan box), the quieter the fan will be when operating. Since a sones ratings of 1.0 compares to the sound of a quiet refrigerator, any fan with a sones rating of 1.0 or less is considered very quiet. On the other end of the scale, a sones rating greater than 4.0 might be loud enough to drown out your shower singing. Nowadays, many manufacturers produce bathroom fans that operate quietly. If you’re very worried about sound, consider installing a 6-inch ducting attachment for your fan rather than the standard 4-inch attachment. Air can move easier in a wider duct, so 6-inch duct puts less strain on the fan and allows for quieter operation.
INSTALLMENT AND DUCTING
When you draw moisture-filled air out of the bathroom, it needs somewhere to go. Some bathroom vents release exhaust into a home’s attic; however, this setup isn’t ideal, since excess moisture in the attic can lead to mold-related issues. Therefore homeowners should opt to vent their bathroom fans to the outdoors.
If the bathroom is located on the first level of a multi-story home, you’ll want to vent the air through the side of your house. A standard ceiling-mounted fan is suitable for this type of venting, as long as you can run the ducting through the ceiling joists to an exterior wall. If you can’t run ducting between the joists, and if your bathroom has at least one exterior wall, you can install a wall-mounted fan that vents the exhaust directly out the side of the house. For any bathroom located on the floor directly below the attic, your best bet is to direct the vented air to the attic and then, via ducting, either to a soffit under the roof’s eave or out through a vent pipe in the roof.

Why you should take our Word
After these hours of research we selected products to acquire and test.
This report strives to answer the question of which marble shower cleaner is best for everyday use on all forms of marble. We feel this guide is the best and most detailed review of marble shower cleaners on the web, and we hope that after you read this you will feel the same!
Universal pH Indicator paper
The marble shower cleaner we chose must be able to clean the marble, not destroy it. This may seem a little extreme, but most traditional bathroom cleaners contain harsh chemicals that will actually etch the marble surface thus doing more harm than good.
Marble is made of calcium carbonate, and this compound chemically reacts with acid if they encounter one another. The chemical reaction is called etching, and results in a small spot on your marble surface being dissolved leaving behind ugly dull marks on your stone, thus making the “cleaner” counterproductive. pH Balance Chart
To determine if the cleaner is safe for your marble shower, we need to determine if the marble cleaner is acidic. We will does this with universal pH paper.
You may remember litmus paper from your high school chemistry; it essentially tells you the pH of a liquid. Universal Indicator paper does the same thing, but gives you more specifics on the actual pH of the liquid rather than simply saying acidic, neutral, or basic?
You will see a lot of marble cleaners that say in their sales pitch or introduction, “pH neutral” meaning they have a have pH of around Although this is good to prevent etching, you are going to have a hard time effectively removing greases at this pH level. The cleaner will either need to be acidic or alkali to actually remove greases and oils from your marble.
As we have said being acidic is not an option with marble, so your marble cleaner will have to a pH level of at least 7, and to be an effective cleaner it will need to be alkali (sometimes called basic) which means a pH of greater than especially against tough bathroom stains like mold or soap scum.
The Marble Institute of America recommends the use of Ammonia to remove soap scum, but warns that repeated or frequent use can possibly dull the surface of marble. Ammonia has a pH of roughly 11.5-12, therefore a safe marble cleaner’s maximum limit should be around 12.
To remove mold, mildew, or other organic stains the Marble Institute of American recommends using bleach which has a pH of around 1to 12.5
Therefore a Safe Marble Bathroom Cleaner should have a pH greater than and a maximum pH of around 1or 1For cleaners like soap scum or mold remover that are used less frequently the cleaners pH can approach 12, however, for a daily cleaner the pH levels should max out around 11.
Have you ever cleaned windows on a hot day? You spray your window cleaner on the window begin wiping it down and then realize that half the window cleaner has evaporated and left streaks on your windows. Streaks from cleaners are frustrating, and effectively counterproductive and we want to avoid them at all cost.
The marble bathroom cleaner we select needs to clean streak free. We will test these shower cleaners to make sure they meet this requirement.
Streak Free Test Setup
We added two teaspoons of marble cleaner to the mirror and wiped up the surface with a new clean paper towel. We used a repeatable motion to make the test as similar as possible with each cleaning solution. Short of having a cleaning robot, this was the best we could do to design an experiment that was a completely objective judgement for each cleaner.
After running these three test we are able to say that MarbleLife’s Bathroom Cleaner kit is the best marble shower cleaner for all your marble surfaces.
The biggest discriminator for this cleaner was its ability to easily cut through the soap scum making it easy to rub off rather than having to scrub really hard to get results.
The Runner up
A close runner up is the MB Stone Care Bathroom and Shower Kit. These cleaners preformed just as well as the MarbleLife products, so we highly recommend these products from a cleaning power standpoint. However, their higher cost put them as the Runner up!
The Competition’s Results
The competition had some varied results. If you are on a budget we recommend the use of 40Stone Cleaner and the Granite Gold Shower cleaner for daily cleaning inside your marble shower. Both of these products preformed reasonably well during test by removing almost all dirt from their respective test grid and both have safe pH levels. However, neither of them did well removing soap scum, and the scrubbing in test was difficult because these cleaners did not cut through the soap scum very well. These cleaners also had little effect to the mold in their respective mold and mildew removal tests.
Comparing these two cleaners to the MarbleLife and MB Stone care products you could physically feel the difference in the cleaning power. It was much more difficult to scrub out the soap scum and dirt in test with these two products relative to the winner and runner up products.
We think that this has a lot to do with the fact that the MarbleLife and MB Stone Care product kits have cleaners specifically designed for soap scum removal and this made all the difference. Therefore, if you have soap scum build up in your shower we highly recommended you purchase one of these speciality products either as the kit above or as a separate item.
The results from comparing the different products confirmed our thoughts that these speciality products within the kits sold by marble specific companies would preform best! these two products relative to the winner and runner up products.” We do not recommend the use of the Black Diamond Marble and Tile cleaner for use in the shower. It did not do well removing any of our test variables, and was very difficult to clean with against soap scum build up. Although this may be a great cleaner for everyday use and is a very affordable solution we believe the tests showed your money is better spent with the MarbleLife and MB Stone care products when tackling tough stains in the shower.
Ambient lighting, also known as general lighting, illuminates the whole room. This type of light provides enough illumination to safely navigate through the space, read the labels in a first-aid kit and bathe kiddos in the tub. When used with a dimmer, ambient light can also transform into warm, soft illumination to offset the bright glow that results from task lighting.
Ambient lighting is most often achieved through ceiling lighting. A flush mount ceiling light with a frosted diffuser is perfect for providing just enough warm, ambient light to illuminate the whole bathroom.
As the finishing touch to a bathroom lighting arrangement, accent lighting balances out the overall brightness of the room. Enhancing ambient lighting and softening task lighting, accent lighting provides a subtle glow that creates depth and highlights different parts of the bathroom.
An easy way to add accent lighting to a bathroom is through the addition of wall sconces. Positioned next to a door, a piece of art or mounted on a blank wall, a wall sconce will provide soft, diffused light to counterbalance ambient and task lighting.
Areas of a Bathroom to Light
Now that the type of light that is needed in a bathroom has been determined, it is important to identify the appropriate areas that need to be illuminated and what light fixtures will sufficiently illuminate the space.
Bathroom Ceiling Lights
A ceiling light is a successful way to provide the necessary general light that is needed in a bathroom. The previously mentioned flush mount light is a great option, as is an arrangement of hardly noticeable recessed lights throughout. Both will casting general light downwards while blending in subtly with any design.
The placement of ceiling lighting in a bathroom is also key. The center of the room is perfect for casting light around the whole space. Definitely avoid putting a ceiling light directly above the vanity—the result will be splotchy illumination, unwanted shadows and potentially a glare from the light bouncing off of the mirror.
Bathroom Mirror Lighting
For tall or round mirrors, or for personal design preferences, simply mount a wall sconce along either side of the mirror. The wall sconces should be mounted 60 inches from the ground and 2inches apart to provide the proper distribution of task lighting.
Or you can forego the separate installation of lighting and mirror by combining the two together. Lighted mirrors put the lights just where you need them without the need to measure or take up more wall space.
Bathroom Wall Lights
Apart from their possible duties flanking a mirror, elsewhere in a bathroom, wall lights add a soft fill light that enhances ambient light and balances out bright task lighting. A single wall sconce is perfect for lighting a dark corner or highlighting a piece of art. A second option is to create a symmetrical installation by framing a door or window with a wall sconce mounted on both sides. For best results, mount wall lights at eye-level, or 5-feet off the ground.
In areas directly exposed to water, like the area around a shower or bathtub, bathroom lights should be listed for wet locations. This means that, even if the light fixture is splashed or comes in contact with water, the water will not damage or build up in the electrical area of the lamp.

Think of a mirror as a surface option and add it to your moodboard alongside the wallpaper, tile and paint swatches. Just as these choices can make an impact on bare walls, the polished look of a mirror speaks volumes en masse. If you’re planning to add a mirrored wall, be aware that the clutter of one space will double with its reflection. On the other hand, a considered design approach will magnify the best features of your zone. This open-plan living and dining area makes use of clean lines and opulent details to tap into a luxe look. Metallic hits are picked up in the reflection without overwhelming the space.
MIRRORED BARN DOOR
Trend watchers will have seen the custom-designed barn door pop up in more and more design-savvy homes, and it’s easy to see why. Not only does it look super streamlined and add industrial appeal, a barn door is also a fantastic piece for small spaces, as the sliding mechanism means there’s no swing space needed and there’s flexibility as to where it’s positioned. This door always offers the mirrored side, whether open or closed; while a hinged mirrored door becomes hidden when it’s completely opened.
WALL MOUNTED MIRROR
Getting a mirror custom made to fit a particular space is a sure-fire way to add real wow factor. Rather than opt for a small-scale mirror, this living area makes use of a large-format design that has been specially created to fit between the mantelpiece and the ceiling. With its dark frame that extends to the ceiling, the mirror becomes a focal point that exaggerates the room’s dimensions. Many businesses cut mirrors to suit your specifications, but you may need to tag in a framer if you’re after the ideal finishing touch to your mirror. Add a strong frame for definition, or keep it frameless for a more airy feel.
MIRROR TILE SPLASHBACK
Subway tiles are the look du jour in kitchens, bathrooms and laundries, and the use of a mirrored tile takes this look to the next level. Going with tiles also marks a departure from a single mirror as a splashback, and adds a more eye-catching detail. This space incorporates mirrored tiles with bevelled-edge options and a smoky dapple. The slight dark tinge ensures that any splashes won’t be too visible, as opposed to a pristine mirror where every errant drop is glaringly obvious.
MIRROR JOINERY DETAIL
Think outside the square and add a mirror to an unlikely spot for an element of surprise. The sleek and seamless joinery of this kitchen gets a practical lift from a mirror in a spare nook. The mirror also creates a focal point that draws the eye away from the sink and prep zones. This application is also great for those who want the look of the mirrored splashback, with less maintenance required. Adding a mirrored kickboard to the base of kitchen cabinetry is another way to make an impact in an often overlooked area.
A sleek mirror splashback is often chosen to suit contemporary kitchen designs. With polished looks and a streamlined appeal, this option is a sound choice. Here, ‘smoke’ glass is a softer take on glare, as well as the sparse white scheme. There are some factors to consider prior to installation. A single mirror’s join-free surface may limit the growth of mould, but, don’t forget about the cleaning up-keep of this type of splashback. If your cooktop is positioned close to a glass splashback, a professional must install toughened glass with a minimum thickness of 6mm, which is made to strict safety standards. This glass is able to withstand heat and moisture, so it’s made to last in a hard-working zone.
ANTIQUED MIRROR SPLASHBACK
While a classic gleaming mirror stands the test of time, an antique-look treatment makes cleaning a little easier. The expansive polished surface of a mirror splashback is best when it is just that, so when food prep and cooking get a bit messy (likely), you’ll need to clean it as well as your benchtop. Choosing a mirror with a pattern detail via faux patina helps mask the spray of bubbling pots and pans, so you can get away with a less intensive clean-up. The dappled look will mean a quick post-cooking wipe down is all you need, rather than a full-scale clean every time you use the kitchen. Choosing this finish also adds a subtle textural detail to a zone that is often made up of strong block colours and hardwearing surfaces.
MIRRORED BATHROOM WALL
Bathrooms are one of the home’s hardest-working spaces, and you can keep yours streamlined to ensure maximum efficiency with the lustrous look of a mirrored wall. This bathroom taps into a thoroughly modern look. The strong lines of the fittings and fixtures showcase the bathroom’s minimalistic style – definitely the right approach if an entire wall is devoted to a mirror. In this case, the mirror also becomes a space-saving saviour, as it not only conceals the toilet cistern, but it also integrates hidden cabinetry behind the four panels above the sink. With only the bare essentials on display, and the strict white-and-steel colour scheme, the mirror is a fitting choice to give this bathroom its strong look.
ANTIQUED MIRROR TILES
The faded beauty of antiqued mirror tiles softens the crisp look of a standard mirror. The weathered patina of these tiles offer a more muted finish, so they’re a fantastic choice for a bathroom. Similarly, the choice of tiled options, rather than a whole mirrored glass surface, also helps to mellow the reflection, which can be a nicer prospect in a space that demands more privacy. As bathrooms can sometimes err on the clinical side with stark white palettes and bright task lighting, any chance to play with texture and tones should be relished. With each mirror tile offering a variation on the artfully distressed design, this bathroom achieves a unique and intriguing look that sets it apart from the usual powder room.
Tip: Clever placement of tiles with less of the antiqued patina above the basin ensures that users can still make the most of the mirror.
Cleaning tip: Avoid abrasive glass cleaners when cleaning mirrors, as they will damage the backing. A soft microfibre cloth and warm water will do the trick – add a bit of white vinegar to cut through streaks.
Playing with the silhouette of a mirror is an easy way to set a space apart from the rest. While you can always rely on a square or rectangular frame to deliver good looks, a mirror with a curved or uniquely shaped form becomes a real hero piece. A rounded edge imparts a smooth look to bathrooms, which are often furnished with angular or strong-lined pieces. The striking silhouette of this bathroom’s mirror complements the curved shapes of the fixtures, and also contrasts with the cubic form of the basin. Keep an eye out for mirrors with ornate shapes to bring a point of difference to your bathroom.
Tip: Backdrops can play up a cool shape. Here, the generous curve of the mirror’s edges are amplified by the small-format tiles.
There’s definitely still a place for the good old mirrored bathroom cabinet. Not only will bathroom joinery ensure all and sundry are stashed away, but, with the addition of a long-mirrored panel, your morning dressing routine can be contained to the bathroom. Plus, as bathrooms should house strong task lighting, you’ll be able to see a crystal-clear reflection. The dimensions of this option are also fantastic for adding to the illusion of height which, when combined with a mirror’s ability for exaggerating dimensions, are great in smaller spaces.
When you play with the control lever and position it at 180 degrees, you will end up with a powerful and impressive massage jet. Because the Speakman has many jets, its coverage is wide. The water will cover every inch of your skin. Moreover, it will perform wonderfully even if the pressure from your water system is low. Many people seem to have a difficult time when removing the flow restrictor. However, with a curved hemostat or tweezers, you can poke it out.
The installation is easy.
Without the flow restrictor, it uses up a lot of water. It is nice to have high pressure, but you will run out of hot water quickly.
Removing the flow restrictor can be tricky. So you better know what you are doing should you decide to disconnect it.
AKDY AZ-602install this shower head if your house has poor water pressure. However, if you need a shower head with massage and deep cleaning capabilities, you have to look elsewhere.
Thanks to the rubber nozzles, you will not have to deal with the problem of removing calcium and magnesium buildup. You just need a brush to rub the dirt off. The best feature is that the shower head is adjustable. You may choose to have an overhead gentle rain shower experience or tilt its arm to get a regular body shower. Also, it has a hand shower option, which works well when you want to reach those hard-to-reach areas and when you want to clean the bathroom or your pets.
Culligan WSH-C12Wall-Mounted Filtered Shower Head
If the water flowing through your pipes is hard or chlorinated, then you are probably dealing with problems like dry skin, brittle hair, and the shampoo is not lathering well with the water. Chlorinated water messes up the hair. But the Culligan WSH-C12is the cure. It has a filtration system that purifies the water, removing chlorine and other water impurities. With this filtration system, the water is much softer. In fact, the Culligan has a test paper for testing the hardness of water
The advertised 5-spray settings are just hype. Some of the settings do not seem to make a difference.
There will be a dramatic difference in your water pressure once you install this shower head. If you have thick or long hair, this machine will thoroughly rinse it, washing away the shampoo and conditioner. The pressure is so great it will shoot jets of water to the far corners of the wall, leaving your bathroom all soaked up.
It has increased pressure, which makes rinsing incredibly easy.
The spray is narrower, unlike most other showers. If you need a wide spread, you have to consider another option.
