Champagne and Pomelo
Ticking off the fresh and opulent boxes in one hit, the citrus undertones of Florence Verity’s first candle offering is sure to hit the right note. And look hella pretty on your fireplace / bed side table / any flat surface.
A brand named after its founder (Kim Soohyang) and a candle named after the address of her original store (Itaewon 565), here is a candle imbued with generous significance. It also doesn’t hurt that the packaging is so deliciously pink and that the candle itself smells like bathing in a tub full of freshly plucked petals.

Fornasetti Ortensia Flora
The price tag might be slightly ridiculous—but only if you’re thinking of it in candle terms. We like to think of it as art. The rich, floral-scented candle burns for 240 hours, and once it’s done, you’ll find any excuse to keep the beautiful, collectible jar out on the counter.
I absolutely love Geodesis candles. They’re from France and smell purely of nature. The founder, Norbert Hiblot, used to collect plant samples on holiday to last him through the winter, and his candles reflect that habit. The Jasmine scent is subtly intoxicating, and the Fig Tree is a marvel; it combines the scent of the leaves, the sap, and the fruit. Even in wintertime, a fig tree candle makes me feel like I’m in sunlit Greece with leaves under my feet, surrounded by ripening figs.
Petit Grain 21
I love how authentic this orange blossom scent is — it’s slightly bitter, but mostly warm and comforting. Its inspiration was the airy gardens of orange trees in Seville, and you can almost smell the petrichor. I think it’s hard to find an orange blossom scent that’s not too sweet but sweet enough; this one strikes a good balance between the two. It’s definitely a special and alluring scent.
Besides just the wick, the candle wax is also of the highest quality. You should know by now that we only make soy wax candles, as it is natural and good for the environment. Like we do here at CCF, they also take pride in being environmentally friendly, as they only use the purest of natural waxes and fine essential oils. They have many beautiful and natural fragrances to choose from, and most of their candles are from soy wax.
Tips on Burning It
It should be noted that these candles can be a little bit trickier to burn than other candles, as there are some specific techniques you should follow when doing so. I won’t get into them in this post, but if you would like to learn what steps to follow, check out this article, which is straight from their website. It details the differences between a good and bad burn, as you want the wax to melt from the outside in, not the other way around. It gives you tips and techniques on exactly how to make sure that happens.
Besides just these great Woodwick candles, the Virgina Candle Company also sells several other main products. Here’s a list of them, to show you other high-quality products you may like from this company.
Cinnamon Chai Candle
I included this strong cinnamon candle because it is the fragrance of the month as of writing this, and I’ve always been a big fan of cinnamon. It’s a great quality candle and it features some strong notes of vanilla scent that add and give balance to the dominating cinnamon smell.
Most people don’t necessarily associate candles with smelling of linen, but I’ve written about this fragrance several times and I’m a fan of it. It’s obviously completely different than a fruit or woods scented candle, but I find it relaxing and makes my home smell that much cleaner.
Another woodsy candle, which is my favorite category from them, this candle’s strong scents will make you feeling as if you are standing in the middle of the forest. It has a rich and clean smell that I find so relaxing and cleansing. The scents included are rich redwood with sandalwood and soft amber.
At the Beach
This candle is your tropical scented one, as it will calm and relax you with its flavors of the beach. Tropical citrus, creamy coconut, and cool sea breezes are the scents that make up this candle, giving you the feeling that your are sitting somewhere in paradise
This one is similar to the evening bonfire, but has a little bit cleaner of an aroma, which makes it one of the most popular on their site. It smells more refined and less like you are outdoors, as it has a calmer and warmer feel to it.
Here is another trilogy candle that has three different aromas that compliment each other and gives a unique and beautiful blend. There’s nothing I like in the morning more than a nice hot cup of coffee and that’s exactly what this candle emulates. It’s strong combo of Vanilla Bean, Caramel and Biscotti give in a warming and awakening scent of a mocha in the morning. Perfect for a morning scent as you get ready for what the day is about to bring.
The last candle on this list yet another trilogy candle, as that is by far my favorite variety of the wood wick candles. This candle is a warming spring or early morning candle, as it smells of a fresh rainfall or a cold morning. The three essential oils that make up this candle are Dew Drops, Water Garden, and Aegean Sea. Another great clean smelling nature candle.
Yankee Candle Apple Cider
Yankee Candle’s the true king of scented candles in terms of variety (and in my opinion, strength-of-scent), to the point that it sometimes feels like there’s almost too much variety, and have a hard time deciding! This apple cider one is one of my Fall favorites. It’s the perfect combination of fresh (apple) and spicy (cinnamon/nutmeg).
NEST Pumpkin Chai
Okay, I’ll admit it. Though I love the way Yankee Candles smell, I don’t love the way they look. My apartment’s got a very modern/contemporary vibe happening (think lots of white and chrome), and sometimes, the perfectionist, matchy-matchy part of my personality feels like the Yankee Jars don’t really go. This Pumpkin Chai from NEST is much more my speed. The NEST scents are a bit subtler than Yankee (which some people like, other’s don’t), but still plenty pumpkiny! And the glass jar it comes in is just a little more sophisticated. diptyque Wood Fire
I first started seeing these little French candles all over Instagram, and then suddenly it seemed they were everywhere. Yes, they’re expensive. Yes, their packaging is simple. But I actually love the way they all (mostly) look exactly the same. I like that it says “candlelight!” without LOOK AT ME! Their Wood Fire scent’s not going to be for everyone, but I love how surprising, and yet comforting it is!
Tiny Candle Co
Tiny Candle Co soy candles are hand poured, and made from soy wax and pure essential oils. I have the pomegranate and fig soy candle, and again find the aroma to be quite a delicate one, so this is my candle of choice when having a long soak in the bath of an evening.
Tiny Candle Co candles make for lovely gifts, as they come packaged in a pretty box tied in ribbon. No wrapping paper required (aka, my favourite kind of gift!).
Do you have a particular favourite soy candle brand?
This candle looks as chic as it smells! With top notes of cucumber and grapefruit; middle notes of mimosa, jasmine, and rain; and base notes of vanilla and soft musk, it’s a dreamy scent that’s perfect for ladies who brunch. Plus, it comes in an adorable little paint can with a small paint can opener!
P.F. Candle Co.
There’s a reason you see P.F. Candle Co. everywhere: Their scents really are that good. While it’s hard to go wrong with these candles, Amber & Moss is one of their more popular scents for a reason. It features top notes of moss and lavender; heart notes of sage, lavandin, and orange; and base notes of amber and musk.
If you’ve ever shopped at Anthropologie, you’ve probably come across Voluspa. While all of their scents are pretty dreamy, this one is a citrus delight featuring “cold-pressed tarocco blood orange blended with sun-dried goji berries.”
HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT AROMATHERAPY CANDLE FOR STRESS
The main difference between scented candles and legitimate aromatherapy candles is that aromatherapy candles use pricier essential oils wheras regular scented candles use cheaper fragrance oils. Inferior fragrance oils often contain synthetic ingredients wheras essential oils use natural plant essences and release a continous scent into the air, similar to that of a diffuser. When you breath in this vapor, it travels into your bloodstream which can result in various health benefits.
In general, aromatherapy candles are less toxic than regular scented candles and often include natural ingredients such as vegetable oil, soy or beeswax.

The burn time on the candles vary quite a bit, look for this icon to find out!
Way Out West’s Aromatherapy Candles include a two pack of candles with the first one featuring Lavender/Eucalyptus and the second featuring Spearmint/Rosemary. These candles are made in America (for over 30 years) and both come in 8oz jars.
They are available in a variety of different scent combinations but this combination in particular is designed for stress relief. Support a small family business creating high quality candles. The candles burn quite evenly and don’t really smoke. I love that the packaging is whimsical and looks handmade.
The re-usable mason jars are great and they are eco-friendly and I love that it comes with an adorable heart shaped wick dipper which eliminates excess smoke when you are putting out the candle. They smell great and the scent lingers for hours after they are put out. The candles each burn about 40-4hours per candle.
